The food is boiling over the casserole and acting as a thing, like a monster, not able to feed anyone or able to feed the all humanity.

What is this revolt of those quotidian kitchen intruments against everydaylife?
In this installation the sense of separation appears under the gun’s picture, (guns from t.v. program) I use this picture as a symbol of violence but also as a narrative move, witch indicate an other direction to take, unexpected way.

One guess the fear of not belonging to a proper social class or a proper family.It is a visceral fear or an introversion that deteriorate the usual vision of domestics objects, they become simplified, cartoon-like, fantasied…

Genom den hörs en berusad sjöman skråla.

Det verkar som Elvire tänker, tvekar med en kontur som beskriver något verkligt robust.

Inre lystring! Är Kinesiska muren en kontur? Är papprets vita ett fjärran ur vilket tingen stiger, röster avbrutna, återknutna?

Teckningar blir till i haven som vågor i ett gigantiskt klot av metall.”

Elvire Soyez’s drawings on sheet metal evoke many thoughts. Etchings.

The thin wire that connects two cans in the chemistry set’s communication equipment.

Through it one hears a bellowing drunken sailor.

It would appear that Elvire is thinking, hesitating with an outline that describes something utterly robust.

Inner attention! Is the Great Wall of China an outline? Is the white of the paper a distant ocean from which things rise up, interrupted voices, re-connected?

Drawings appear out of the sea as waves in a gigantic sphere of metal.

Elvire Soyez works in different media, with a focus on sculpture and print.

Her work centres on the house, the home, and its attributes and memories, as well as on “a desire for adventure” which implies the notion of liberty and its opposite, hindrance to liberty.

Her artistic practice takes place in installations, with an intention of impressing the works on our memory like images or appearances that come together into a larger narrative.

Inspired by an interest in vernacular junk, she redeploys found objects in different ways by using them or reinvesting their forms and motifs.

By repeating motifs (television, gun, casserole…) of an interrupted, existent, fragmented domesticity, Elvire Soyez attempts to exploit the full effect value of the motif in order to escape the usual interpretation, or rather go beyond it.

With a low key characteristic combined with sensuous, rough and tactile qualities, her work is placed in contrast to hard industrial, manufactured surfaces and far removed from the aesthetics of minimalism.
